Givenchy’s 2011 couture collection combined the elegance of Asian gowns and prints with a fifth element twist in headwear. The contrast of almost primary colours against a pure white in simplified shapes is also found in many costumes the characters in Final Fantasy and Star Craft. The use of Asian models and long straight hair creates this severe and graphic quality like the girls are from a fantasy world with; perfect posture, hair, faces, make-up and obviously clothing. Escapsism is always one of the aims of couture collections, however here Givenchy balances using contemporary materials like plastic and some of the most ancient fabrics in the the silk dresses. This aspect can be seen in older online games as well as in console games such as Tekken however in newer games as they are more and more updated the clothes and styling are becoming more futuristic and complex so this style will soon not be so apprent in most gaming imagery.
